Abstract: Vorwort.
schwierigsten Bedingungen herzlich gedankt. Ebenfalls
wird das Lektorat durch Hansheinrich Bachofen, Adrian
Borgula, Brigitte Commarmot und Beate Hasspacher
verdankt.
verwilklichen!
The
conservation of refugee wetland biotopes on the Tisza
Plain (Transcarpathian region) is fairly actual, because
many endangered communities, plant and animal species are
concentrated here. The patches of wood, marsh and meadow
complexes are relict habitats from the middle-end
Holocene and specify possible ways of migration mountain
and boreal species with Carpathians on Alfőld. Study
area on the Maramarosh Depression formally has a status
of the Protected Landscape with regional significance.
The investigation of natural condition, soils and
mezoclimate of this area was carried out. The main
factors limiting restoration of relict communities was
determined as pasturing of cattle, cutting down of forest
cover and continuing draining of marsh and meadow lands.
For nature conservation purpose the management-plan which
includes such activities as regulation of a hydrological
regime, restoration of a native forest cover, periodic
moving and clearing open land for prevention of process
them silvatization, repatriation of populations of the
missed plant and animal species was designed. Restoration
of wetland biotopes with unique vegetation, flora and
fauna by the use of permanent plots and searching for
appropriate management were done for the first time in
Ukraine. Laying out of permanent monitoring plots and
data collection recording are necessary for the
elaboration of effective future management of study area.
Abstract: On the basis for the 125 years concerning the fauna of Prikarpatye a list of 30 species and one subspecies which appertain to 20 genera from the families Hesperidae, Papilionidae, and Pieridae was made. Some species were chosen , which under the influence of biotic and abiotic factors have reduced their numbers and need protection. A table of species common for contiguous territories is given.
Abstract: As a result of entomofaunistic investigations on the territory of fauna-floristic reserve "Chornaya Gora" (Transcarpathian, area 823 ha) 62 species Rhopalocera from the families Hesperidae (5 species), Papilionidae (3), Pieridae (9), Lycaenidae (19), Nymphalidae (16) and Satyridae (10) were found. It constitutes more than half of butterfly's fauna of Transcarpathian. 6 specific species are picked out. From founded species four have been entered in Red Book of U.S.S.R. Wealth and uniqueness of the reserve's one can explain by peculiarity of the territory, which is inaccessible for economic activity of man, by unique flora an favourable warm microclimate.
Abstract: Results of investigations of Rhopalocera fauna plain reserve "Dobrony" (area 4459 ha), which have been carried in Summer of 1986, are given. In all 35 species from various families have been fixed: Hesperidae (3 species), Papilionidae (2), Pieridae (8), Lycaenidae (5), Riodinidae (1), Satyridae (6), which accounts for 36% of the butterflies' fauna of Transcarpathians. A specific group typical for glades and secondary woods of Latoritza river flood-lands is picked out. Close links of bluetailed Quercusia quercus L. with oaks is established. The role of rare species of butterflies as state indicators of protected territories surroundings is discussed.
Abstract: On the grounds of entomological field investigations in period 1973-1985 years and of literary data six basic geobotanical regions of transcarpathian specific complexes of butterflies are picked out. The most numerous and representative group - 98 species on Vyhorlat-Huta mountain ridge and individual hills of Chop-Mukachevo lowland is noted. From total number of founded 32 species were listed for the first time for Transcarpathian. 8 "Red Book" species were stated. The list of 8 species, including 2 protected ones, which were indicated for Transcarpathian in early reports, but not noted at present, is given. The principal directions of investigations of Rhopalocera founa of Transcarpathian in connection with economic activity of men, which disturbs an ecological balance in natural habitats of rare insects is laid out.
Abstract: Results of visual registrations in 1987 of Rhopalocera's seminatural and natural habitats of the Ukrainian Carpathians are given. In spring-autum period during 168 total hours of account 5155 individuals imago have been registered. In summary table background, ordinary and rare species are produced, which classified according to dominating index. In perspective, on the ground of used scientific method it is planned to carry out yearly accounts of butterflies. It shall allow to determine the dynamics of fauna in time of intensive mastering by man the nature of the Carpathians.
Abstract: In July-August, 1988, on territories of Ugolsko-Shyrokoluzhansky and Chernogora mountain massifs of the Carpathian State Reserve in result of visual quantitative accounts (43 hours of account) 1349 individuals imago of 37 butterfly species have been registered. Among them there are two "Red Book" Apatura ilia and Iphiclides podalirius. The influence of vertical zone (or altitude) on the dominant species composition is registered. So, background population Rhopalocera of the first massiv was represented such species as Artogeia napi, Heodes virgaureae and Inachis io, and of the second one (Alpine) - Aglais urticae, Artogeia rapae and Erebia euryale.
Abstract: By means of catching and visual observations, carried out in reserve "Rostochye" in spring-summer period on forest roads, edges of forests, dry and wet meadows, bogs, 42 species Rhopalocera were registered. In all during 22 hours of account 1269 individual imago have been registered. According to abundance index (evaluating in one hour of account), butterflies, which are investigated, are divided into two groups: background species (17) and rare species (25). The reserve's Rhopalocera fauna list has been made with distribution every species according to dominating index and with indicating of abundance in spring and in summer.
Abstract: The results of investigations of butterflies of Transcarpathian (Volcanic Carpathians) of many-years are represented. 96 species of this group, from which 21 species are in detail examined, have been detected. Typical biotops, habitats of populations and summer periods of imago described.
Abstract: A brief historical survey of study of butterflies of the Ukrainian Carpathians and contiguous territories of the Ukraina is presented. Total period of investigations is devided on pre-war and post-war parts (before and after 1945) the first one noting as most fruitful in respect of publication by Austrian-Hungarian authors the articles on fauna and ecology of Rhopalocera. It is informed about beginning of preparing of annotated catalogue of butterflies explored region on the grounds of data of literature and new original materials.
Abstract: Some results of accounts of butterflies in period 1986-1992, which were carried out on individual parts of meadowal steppes of Dniester Canyon of Podolye, are shown. During 54 hours of account 8038 individuals imago (593 out of them - in spring and 7445 - in summer), which belong to 69 species from families Hesperidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae, Nymphalidae and Satyridae, were registered. According to abundance indexes numerous, usual and rare species have been chosen. Every species domination index was given. The role of autochthon species as bioindicators of ecological state of territory is noted.
Abstract: The importance of biological monitoring in organizing of environment quality management in the Ukrainian Carpathians is in the process of study. The day time butterflies (Rhopalocera: Hesperioidea & Papilionoidea, further R) are being selected as the object of investigations. The R autochtonic and anthropogenic species significance as the biological indicators is being discussed. The R observation was made in 150 geographical points, where about 120 species have been registered. The goal of the investigations is also the proof of R 140 species that had been indicated for the region in the literature data published during last 130 years. Since 1991 the works are being conducted by small seized enterprise "ALEXANOR", it officially is organize the expeditions in the region.
Abstract: There are some results of biomonitoring of butterflies carried out in more than 150 geographical sites of Ukrainian Carpathian mountains. In 1973-1994 about 130 Rhopalocera (Papilionoidea, Hesperioidea) species were registered. It was established that in natural landscape many species of Rhopalocera occur in approximately equal number, and in the landscapes influenced by anthropogenic transformation, as a rule few, so-callied anthropogenic species are present. Therefore the ecological state of region is being studied by creating two database: all bibliographic information is unified and entered in CARPBIBL.DBF database, and new faunistic, geographical, climatic and habitat information is standardized and placed in CARPECO.DBF database.
Abstract: The paper has deal to condition of creating of private Company of Science Implementation “Alexanor” in 1991. It was no any possibilities to get collaboration with state natural departments, which is responsible for studying of wildlife of South West Ukraine. Failure of Soviet system drove to disintegration of local science units and insufficient financing. Initiative to continue long-term monitoring of butterflies as unique nature components in the frames of the private company was explained. It is intended to get contacts with monitoring centers in West Europe for future collaboration. Elaboration and adoption of compatible approaches, mapping of butterfly distribution patterns are some of the priorities for next working decades.
Abstract: The preconditions and importance of biological monitoring in Ukraine are specified as vital tool for butterfly conservation. Scientific researches by route method of visual calculation is used. The meaning of the correlation of anthropogenic abundance (species which accompany man) and natural species (originally evolving in a certain area or native species) is discussed.
Abstract: For species restricted to Ukraine and Moldova (208(83) species for Ukraine, 36%(14%) of the European total) the new IUCN-criteria were followed as closely as possible (Moldova data in brackets). Present abundance and trend used for determination new ones. Overall, 68 species (33%) are considered to be threatened in Ukraine. A total of 143 species are considered to be of concern or relatively secure, although 57 of these are classed as Lower Risk (near threatened). So, overall, 28 species (33%) are considered to be threatened in Moldova. A total of 56 species are considered to be concern or relatively secure, although 18 of these are classed as Lower Risk (near threatened).
Abstract: The experience of butterfly monitoring in Ukraine accordingly to the national scheme is described. The schemes, datasheets and maps of real monitoringdata which has been carried out in Transcarpathia (SW Ukraine) are shown. Method accepted in Great Britain ("Butterfly monitoring scheme", Institute of Terrestrial Ecology, 1981) was taken as base.
Abstract: From 1992 up to 1998 years on the territory of Transcarpathia there were carried out quantititative species calculation of butterflies imago (Lepidoptera, Papilionoidea) according to the scientific project "Long - Term Monitoring of Ukrainian Butterflies with Purpose of Their Ecology and Conservation.". The natural investigation was made on the neigbouring territories near motor roads, railway, country roads and other paths across different butterflies biotops. The new and not enough known species for Transcarpathian territory are Colias erate Esp. (Pieridae); Vacciniina optilete Knoch, Lycaena helle D. & S., Thersamonia thersamon Esp., Everes decoloratus Stgr., Plebicula amanda Schn. (Lycaenidae); Euphydryas maturna L., Boloria eunomia Esp. (Nymphalidae); Brintesia circe F. (Satyridae).
Abstract: A second year of butterfly monitoring according to the British Scheme has been carried out in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. Since March 1998, 47 butterfly sites were monitored. We used to ride a bike for this purpose. The monitoring sites are situated on a line of at least 320 km from NW to SE. From 13 of 47 sites, 64 individuals of Maculinea arion were registered. From 4 sites 243 individuals of M. teleius were registered too. We have plans to visit the populations of M. alcon & M. nausithous in Prikarpatie in the following years. It will be possible with addition money for a wide Maculinea project in Ukraine.
Abstract: Accordingly to our scientific project "Long - Term Monitoring of SW Ukrainian Butterflies with Purpose of Their Ecology and Conservation" quantitative accounts of imago butterflies species carried out at "Chorna Gora" reserve in spring-summer seasons of 1988-1999 years. It enable us to determine modern state of butterflies diversity. The similar research work was carried out at this place early (Popov, 1987). Altogether 9901 butterfly samples were counted for 1518,5 registration hours for the past 15 years (1984-1999) by Ukrainian monitoring scheme. In the reserve Maniola jurtina L. was by far the most numerous butterfly. Such species as Pieris napi L., Leptidea sinapis L., Melitaea cinxia L., Everes argiades Pall., Pieis rapae L., Gonepteryx rhamni L., Hipparchia fagi Scop., Thymelicus sylvestris Poda and Celastrina argiolus L. were very common. The old systematic list of butterflies includes 65 butterflies species. Now, the faunistic list is complemented by 14 new species for investigated territory. Among this are Thymelicus sylvestris Poda, Pyrgus armoricanus Ob., Carcharodus flocciferus Zell. (Hesperiidae); Leptidea morsei Fent., Colias crocea Geofr. (Pieridae); Strymonidia ilicis Esp., Aricia agestis D. & S., Plebejs idas L., Pl. argyrognomon Brgstr. (Lycaenidae); Melitaea phoebe D. & S., Euphydryas maturna L., Apatura iris L., A. ilia D. & S. (Nymphalidae), Brintesia circe F. (Satyridae). Such species as Scolitandies orion Pall., Glaucopsyche alexis Poda, Maculinea arion L, Euphydryas maturna L, Melitaea aurelia Nick. and Leptidea morsei Fent. was noticed by visual monitoring. At present time they have threat status in Europe as vulnerable species (Popov, S.G. in Chris van Swaay et al., 1997). Populations of this species are small and continue decline by changing of open meadows with bushes of Prunus and Rubus species. The concrete management for surviving of noticed threatened butterflies is needed. In consideration of important role of reserve area for preservation of relict parts of landscape and biological diversity not only in the Volcanic mountains, but also Transcarpathia in general, a complex of organizational and scientific measures must be realized.
Abstract: Part II of this comprises datasheets for at least 70 Ukrainian and Moldova butterfly species assessed as threatened, based on the new IUCN criteria. Datasheets concentrate the distribution and status, habitat and conservation measures required.
Abstract: Present distribution categories of butterflies from genus Hespriidae (27 species - Ukraine (UA), 8 - Moldova (MD)), Papilionidae (5-UA, 4-MD), Pieridae (21-UA, 12-MD) , Riodinidae (1-UA, 1-MD), Lycaenidae (59-UA, 26-MD), Libytheidae (1-UA), Nymphalidae (44-UA, 19-MD) and Satyridae (46-UA, 7-MD) in the Ukraine and the Moldova are given.
Abstract. The main aim of the research project "Monitoring butterflies with purpose of their Conservation in West Ukraine" is conservation and restoration of marsh, wetlands and species rich grassland habitats as medium of inhabitance of threatened species of butterflies and their host plants. A second year of butterfly monitoring according to the British Scheme has been carried out in Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. 60670 butterflies of 110 species were calculated for 358 registration hours in anthropogenic, seminatural and natural sites (altogether about 47 sites). Among Rhopalocera here the large interest represent populations of rare species. To such species belong marsh butterflies Boloria eunomia Esp., Lycaena helle D. & S., Maculinea teleius Brgstr. and such meadow species as Maculinea arion L., Erebia medusa D. & S., E. aethiops Esp., Glaucopsyche alexis Poda. The first three species trophically connected with unique area of vegetation and their preservation is depending from well-being of biotopes. In particular territory the repatriation of such species protected in Europe is possible: Parnassius apollo L., Colias palaeno L., Coenonympha tullia Mull., Boloria aquilonaris Stich., Maculinea alcon L., Maculinea nausithous Brgstr. The populations of two noticed Maculinea species already nearly have disappeared from territory of Transcarpathia, and other meet in unit localities. Therefore repatriation of these species represents significant scientific and nature protective interest. As a whole in the investigated territory inhabits 15 butterfly species, which have threatened status in Europe.
Abstract. The biological monitoring of the chosen group of Invertebrate (butterflies) has been made for the Ukrainian South West since 1973. Up to 1998 year 197547 butterflies of 127 species were calculated for 2068 registration hours in anthropogenic, seminatural and natural sites (at least 500 transects). 15 species carry threatened status. Amongst them here the large interest represent populations of such rare marsh butterflies as Boloria eunomia Esp., Lycaena helle D. & S., Maculinea teleius Brgstr. and such meadow species as Maculinea arion L., Erebia medusa D. & S., E. aethiops Esp. and Glaucopsyche alexis Poda. Checklist of Transcarpathian butterflies is given. Comparative analysis of faunas in general and threatened species of Europe, Ukraine and Transcarpathia is presented (the paper was reported to the 8th European Ecological Congress held in Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece, 18-23 September, 1999). 9 references.
Abstract. Most populations of sedentary Maculinea species Transcarpathia are threatened by the fragmentation of their in combination with the isolation of small habitat patches. The monitoring works which started by Alexanor Center in 1997 year (Popov, 1999) are shown that from 47 monitoring sites in 1998 now we have 13 sites inhabited by Maculinea arion, 4 by M. teleius, 7 by M. alcon. Last one was found for the first time in Transcarpathia, 10 males and 10 females next to Bushtino settlement in August 2000. Such isolated populations are very susceptible to chance extinction and as there is no exchange possible with other habitat patches, recolonisation will not occur. Butterflies are generally not able to cross a distance of more than a few kilometers. Furthermore, dispersal only occurs under favourable circumstances, such as good weather and high population densities. The lowering of of the water table has restricted many populations of larva food plant Gentiana pneumonanthe (and M. alcon) to the lowest areas of south part of Transcarpathia.
Abstract. The report has deal with investigation of butterfly populations in SW Ukraine in 1997. A first year of butterfly monitoring according to the British Scheme (Pollard, Yates, 1993) has been carried out in Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. 29418 butterflies of 104 species from genuses Hesperidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae, Riodinidae, Nymphalidae and Satyridae were calculated for 193 registration hours in anthropogenic, seminatural and natural sites (altogether 45). The most numerous butterflies were Maniola jurtina (6501 samples), Pieris napi (4749) and Plebejus argus (1924). Among Rhopalocera here large interest represent populations of local and rare species. Abstract.
Using of integrated GIS on base ARC / INFO is one of the
way for creation of compatible data base of objective
information not only about mountain forests but all
vegetation, water regime, state of soils etc. The
inventory of virgin forests will serve as a base for
biodiversity conservation. There live strong population
of rare and endemic species and it will serve as kernel
for future reserves. In frame of investigation of current
station of the upper mountain forest in the Ukrainian
Carpathians the examination of ARC / View software with
purpose of determination of upper tree line will carried
out. It enables us to fix of different historical tree
lines in such upper forests as East Beskidy, Borzhava,
Svydovets, Maramorosh Mountains and Chomohora. The
topographical and satellite maps of different scales will
serve as base for future comparisons. The significance of
using of GIS technology is difficult to overestimate.
Monitoring of dynamic changes in model areas of upper
forests under different factors is important stage for
future estimations. The main tasks of using of GIS
technology on model areas in the Ukrainian Carpathians
are: - to establish and create map of historical tree
lines of XIX-XX centuries; - to determine of dynamic
tendencies of treelike in period of last 130 years; - to
study of space distribution of biodiversity in upper
mountain forests; - to designate of model forest mountain
areas for carrying out of tree line monitoring with
purpose of modeling of future forestry management; - to
promote processing of common plan or policy of management
upper forest in accordance to criteria of sustainable
development; - to support of elaboration of
multidisciplinary tools of investigation in up-per
forests, including floating systems of modeling for
integration of social, economic and ecological data.
Abstract.
The Tisza Plain in Transcarpathia was historically
completely covered with forest, mainly by damp oak
woodland. Today, more than 90% of its area has been
converted to human use. In this connection, the
preservation of remnants of natural biotopes is
important, because rare and disappearing plants and
butterflies still survive here today. Place Chere is one
of the most natural and unique protected areas remaining
on the Tisza Plain. Since 1985 66 butterfly species have
been recorded. Amongst these Proclossiana eunomia Esp.,
Lycaena helle D. & S., Maculinea
teleius Brgstr., M. arion L., M. alcon
D. & S., Erebia medusa D. & S.,
Glaucopsyche alexis Poda are
indicators marshes and wet meadows. At the present time
their European threat status in is Vulnerable. Their
populations are small and continue to decline through
draining of forest meadows and marshes and their
subsequent change to scrub dominated by bushes of Salix,
Spiraea and Rubus. A concrete management
programme for the surviving butterflies is still needed
here.
Abstract. The report has deal with investigation of butterfly population in SW Ukraine in 2001. A fifth year of butterfly monitoring according to the British Scheme (Pollard, Yates, 1993) has been carried out in Transcarpathia, Lvov, Ivano-Frankovsk and Chernovtsy regions of SW Ukraine. 22989 butterflies of 117 species from genuses Hesperidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae, Riodinidae, Nymphalidae and Satyridae were calculated for 215 registration hours in anthropogenic, seminatural and natural sites (altogether 95 sites). In addition, 35 new sites were started and counted. The most numerous butterflies were Peris rapae (3037 samples, noted in 81 sites), Hyponephele jurtina (2899, 75 sites) and Pieris napi (2423, 71 sites). Amongst Rhopalocera here large interest represent populations of local and rare species. To such species belong marsh butterflies Melitaea diamina Lang., Lycaena helle D. & S., Maculinea alcon D. & S., M. nausithous Brgstr., Euphydryas aurinia Rott., Cenonympha tullia Mull., C. hero L., deciduous forest species – Euphydryas maturna L., Limenitis camilla D. & S., mixed forests – Lopinga achine and such meadow species as Vacciniina optilete Knoch, Pseudophilotes vicrama Mr., Glaucopsyche alexis Poda. There was noticed 22 species from new Regional Red List, 8 species from Ukrainian Red Data Book (Red Data Book of Ukraine. Animal Kingdom, 1994) and 15 species from European Red Data Book (Red Data Book of European Butterflies (Rhopalocera), 1999). Was noticed 104 species of flowering plants whish was visited by butterflies. Amongst of them Cirsium sp. and Lotus corniculatus attract 25 butterfly species and Centaurea cyanus – 20 butterfly species.

Abstract. There are 241 butterfly species reported from the European part of Russia, forty of them considered threatened in Europe. The eleven target species are listed in table. Russia still holds string populations of many on these, which in the rest of Europe are rare and threatened species. Since the country is by far the largest in Europe, it is not surprising that for almost all of the target species, Russia has more than 15% of the European population on its territory. Coenonympha hero is found on humid meadows, mostly in sparse coniferous woodland. In the southern part of the country, the butterfly can be seen in meadows in the forest and forest-steppe zone. C. oedippus occurs locally on swampy meadows, floodlands, river valleys, damp grassy clearings in forest and forest-steppe. The species is reported to be common in Siberia (Asia). Euiphydryas aurinia can be found in mixed forests, grassy banks and steppe slopes. Euphydryas maturna can be seen locally in openings and clearings in mixed forests and scrubs. Lopinga achine occurs in shadowy, humid places in mixed and broad-leaved forests. Maculinea arion is found in dry grassland habitats in light woodland, meadows and steppe habitats, sometimes on limestone. M. teleius and M. nausithous occur locally on damp meadows and forest clearings. Parnassius apollo can be found in dry pine and mixed woodlands on plains, and on stony slopes in mountainous areas.

Abstract. There are 208 native butterfly species in Ukraine, 34 of them being considered threatened in Europe. The ten target species are listed in table. The global distribution of Pseudochazara euxina (global threat status: vulnerable) is restricted to this country. In the Ukraine Coenonympha hero and Euphydruas maturna occur in wet meadows in natural forests and peat bogs, mainly in the northern part of the country. C. oedippus has a very restricted range and occurs in wet, open forest meadows and peat bogs, in the Kiev and the Zitomir regions in northern Ukraine. In western Ukraine, Euphydryas aurinia can be found in open forest peat bogs and wetlands, while in eastern Ukraine the species occurs in ravines along streams. Maculinea nausithous and M. teleius are characteristic of wet meadows and are still widespread in the western and northern parts of Ukraine. M. arion is the most common target species in this country, and is found on dry, steppe grassland, chalk grasslands and within the Carpathian Mountains. The present status of Parnassius apollo is not clear, and there have been no recent observations in its former habitats in Hora Bila and Potashnia. The global range of Pseudochazara euxina is restricted to parts of the Crimean Peninsula.

Abstract. The paper has deal to creation of Red List of Transcarpathian butterflies with purpose to optimize of their conservation on regional level. All together 23 species from families Nympalidae, Satyridae and Lycaenidae were selected. From them 9 belong to Red Data Book of European Butterflies. Accordingly to ecological threats factors endangered species were established. For the most vulnerable species (Boloria aquilonaris, Euphydryas aurinia, Coenonympha tullia, Lycaena helle and Maculinea alcon) places of localization are listed. Ukrainian and European Red List species Parnassius apollo in last scientific publications is not listed and in nature of Transcarpathia for last 40 years not found.

Abstract. In frames of TACIS project Flood Risk Assessment and Management in Transcarpathian Region, Ukraine from Tiachev to Badalovo some field data collection was carried out. From main task are Compile lists of key species groups, historic data and information/maps on natural habitats in (or to be expected) in the project area; identify which of these species or habitats are rare, unique or endangered (both nationally and using the IUCN Red Data list criteria); identify species that may be used as possible indicator species in the floodplain; analyse past changes in species and habitats and assess present trends, based on historic data; evaluate the effects of various flooding and flood management intervention scenarios on key flora, fauna and habitats. Also very important output is to identify ways in which impacts of flood management interventions can be mitigated, and ways in which interventions can add to floodplain butterfly diversity. This may include modifying dike design, planting of certain preferred species and changing the timing of construction activities. It may also include recommendations for optimising flood management (including water regime management) for the protection of key butterflies. Altogether 30 monitoring sites in the investigated area were visited in July-September 2004. As a result, butterfly database includes 240 records on 41 species from genus Hesperidae (3 species), Papilionidae (2), Pieridae (10), Lycaenidae (9), Nymphalidae (13) and Satyridae (4). More numerous species are Artogeia napi (occurs in 28 sites), Artogeia rapae (23 sites) and Maniola jurtina (21 sites). From European Red Data Book (1999) and IUCN Red Data in the project area such species as Leptidea morsei on 1 site founded. It inhabits foliage forests and has status critically endangered species. Neptis sappho [1] (it occurs on 1 site) has lower risk status and belongs to IUCN Red Data Book. Lycaena dispar [4] included to Bern Convention list (Invertebrate animals.., 1999) can be found on two sites in the project area.
Abstract. The information about history of study and distribution of Erebia manto in the Ukrainian Carpathians is given in the work. As a result of researches from 1987 till 1992 new locations of this species are discovered. For the first time for Transcarpathians subspecies of Erebia manto trajanus has been found in the massif of Marmarosh. Data on some aspects of biology, taxonomic status and modern distribution are reported. The protection measures of this species are discussed.
Abstract. The paper has deal to show current station of butterfly's fauna in area with strong economical development. As a result of 15 years of field work 118 species are noted for Transcarpathia without locality and time of collection. List of butterflies contains 9 species from Red Data List of Ukraine - Animals (1994), 7 species from European Red List (1991), 32 species selected as critically endangered on regional level.
